Good news in a noisy world
Last updated: April 2026
Solas is a ChatGPT app that surfaces curated positive news stories. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it when you interact with Solas inside ChatGPT.
From you directly: nothing. Solas does not require you to create an account, and we do not store any personal information about you.
From ChatGPT via tool calls:When you ask ChatGPT for good news, it may call our tools with an optional topic filter (e.g. “science”, “environment”). We use this only to select which stories to return. We do not receive your chat history, profile information, location, or any identifiers that would let us recognise you across sessions.
Server logs: Our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps short-lived request logs for operational reasons (errors, abuse prevention). These may contain IP addresses and user-agent strings but are not linked to any user identity by Solas.
If you choose to support Solas with a one-time contribution, you will be redirected to Stripe’s hosted checkout page. Solas does not see or store your card details. Stripe handles all payment data under its own privacy policy.
Solas fetches public news feeds (e.g. Google News RSS) and uses an AI model (OpenAI’s GPT-4o-mini) to score and summarise articles for positivity. Only headlines, summaries, source names, and source URLs are stored in our database. We do not scrape or store article body text.
Because Solas doesn’t collect personal data, there’s no user account to delete or data export to request. If you’ve made a payment via Stripe and want to exercise data rights related to that transaction, contact us and we’ll help where we can.
