Who we are

Solas is an independent ChatGPT app that surfaces curated positive news stories. It is operated by Son of the Priest as a personal project. By accessing or using Solas — whether through ChatGPT, the website at solas.son-of-the-priest.com, or any related surface — you agree to these terms.

What Solas does

Solas reads public news feeds, scores articles for genuine positivity using an AI model, and surfaces them inside ChatGPT when you ask for good news. The service is free to use and does not require an account.

Acceptable use

By using Solas you agree not to:

• Overwhelm the service with automated requests, denial-of-service attacks, or other forms of abuse
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, or copy Solas to build a competing or substantially similar service
• Use Solas to generate, distribute, or amplify harmful, illegal, or misleading content
• Impersonate Solas or claim an affiliation we have not agreed to in writing
• Bypass any security measures, rate limits, or access controls we have in place

Content and accuracy

Stories surfaced by Solas come from third-party publishers. We curate and summarise but we do not write the original articles. We do our best to surface stories that are factually grounded and genuinely positive, but we cannot guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or current relevance of any individual story. Always check the original source if accuracy matters to your decision.

AI-generated explanations of why a story is good news are commentary, not endorsement, and may contain errors.

Intellectual property

• The Solas name, logo, brand identity, and underlying code are owned by Son of the Priest
• Story headlines, summaries, and links remain the property of their original publishers
• You may share links to Solas stories freely; you may not republish the curated feed or its summaries as your own

Payments and support

Solas is free. If you choose to support the project with a one-time contribution via the “Support Solas” link, payment is processed by Stripe under Stripe’s own terms. Contributions are voluntary, treated as tips of appreciation, and are non-refundable. You receive no goods, services, or ongoing benefits in exchange for a contribution.

Privacy

Solas does not collect personal data from end users. See our Privacy Policy for the full details on what is and isn’t stored.

Service availability

Solas is provided “as is” on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee uptime, response times, or the continued availability of any particular story or feature. We may update, suspend, or discontinue parts of the service at any time, with or without notice.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Solas and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service — including but not limited to errors in story content, missed information, decisions made based on AI-generated explanations, or interruptions in access. Use Solas as one input among many, not as a sole source of truth.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. Material changes will be reflected in the “last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of Solas after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Scotland. Any disputes arising from your use of Solas will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
